Purpose Of The Platform

The Beacon House Thrift Shop Enterprise is a
multi-faceted Social Enterprise with many moving parts.
For us to operate at an efficient level, we all must be on the same page.

We built the Beacon House Thrift Store Training Management and Career Exploration Platform for several reasons.

1. We want to ensure that all our volunteers receive sufficient training and know how to perform the tasks associated with their assignments. Centralizing our training will help streamline our workflow. Additionally, it will help each department to operate cohesively with one another. 

2. We want to expose you to the many career possibilities that relate to the positions in our multi-faceted retailing operation. It may not be clear to you immediately, but you are learning and developing some critical skills. The skills you learn today will be beneficial when you are ready to reenter the workforce. 

3. We want to provide you with real-life success stories. Many individuals have gone through the same process as you and achieved remarkable things. You will hear their stories and hopefully become inspired by their journeys.

The platform provides detailed training modules on all tasks and jobs related to the Beacon House Thrift Shop. The Training Management and Career Exploration Platform is an online instructional platform consisting of easy-to-access training modules that outline the Beacon House Thrift Shop’s Standard Operating Procedures.
The Training Management Modules will include engaging content related to Retail Management, Retail Sales, Customer Service, Processing and Production, Operations and Logistics, and Marketing and Communications. You will be able to learn at your own pace, and each training will follow with an assessment to gauge your comprehension of the material contained within the modules.
Our platform will aid the onboarding process by centralizing and standardizing critical information, streamlining training, and ensuring that all our team members receive consistent training across all departments. This will result in a cohesive organizational structure, with each participant equipped to work at any capacity of the Beacon House Thrift Shop.
In addition to the training and onboarding portion of the system, we are thrilled to highlight the Career Exploration aspect of our platform.
The Career Exploration Modules will be designed to connect the many career possibilities that correspond to the various positions of our thrift shop social enterprise.
The Career Exploration Modules will be facilitated by individuals, many of whom are alumni, currently working in various professions. Many of our Alumni have gone on to achieve long-term career positions in various industries.
